Herriman is growing, and how we manage that growth will define our future.
I’m Heather Garcia, and I’m running for Herriman City Council to ensure our city grows the right way—with purpose, accountability, and respect for the families who live here.
For the last six years, I’ve served on the Herriman City Planning Commission, where I’ve worked closely on decisions that impact everything from land use and infrastructure to preserving the character of our neighborhoods. I’ve stood for responsible development, pushed back against high-density proposals that don’t fit our community, and championed the values that matter to Herriman residents.
Now, I’m ready to take that experience to the next level. Our city is at a turning point, facing complex challenges but also exciting opportunities. With the right leadership, we can protect what makes Herriman special while building a stronger, safer, more connected future for everyone.
My Priorities:
🛡️ Public Safety Comes First
The safety of our residents is non-negotiable. I will advocate for fully funded and well-equipped police and fire departments, faster emergency response times, and policies that support our first responders. Public safety is the foundation of a thriving community.
💼 Balanced Economic Development
Herriman deserves smart and intentional economic growth, not just any growth. I support attracting family-friendly businesses, restaurants, and services that match our community’s needs and character while ensuring our infrastructure keeps pace with development.
💰 Transparency and Fiscal Responsibility
Taxpayer dollars must be managed with discipline and openness. With a Master’s in Business Administration and a background in public policy, I bring both financial insight and a strong belief in government transparency. You should always know where your money is going and why.
🛣️ Infrastructure That Keeps Up
From roads and utilities to parks and trails, our infrastructure must be thoughtfully planned and responsibly maintained. I will prioritize investments in long-term infrastructure that improves daily life while preparing us for future needs.
💧 Water Preservation and Sustainability
Water is one of our most precious and limited resources. I support policies that promote conservation, improve water efficiency, and protect long-term access to safe and clean water. As Herriman continues to grow, we must plan carefully to ensure our water use is responsible, sustainable, and future-ready.
🏡 Preserving Herriman’s Character
I believe in low-density development that respects the character of our neighborhoods. I will oppose high-density housing projects that strain infrastructure, overcrowd schools, and compromise the quality of life we cherish.
